Presenting auditions for the 1st ballet in the Youth Ballet Season - The Snow Queen

Ages 9 years to 18 years, male and female. Senior/Advanced & Pre-Professional level dancers may audition for Principal roles.

The Victorian State Youth Ballet is Victorias' leading youth ballet company offering outstanding training, rehearsing and performing opportunities to the next generation of Elite dancers across Victoria and throughout Australia. Unique experience working in a professional and nurturing environment for pre-professional classical ballet performing experience.

VSYB is also connected with the Victorian State Ballet adult company also offering young dancers the unique exposure and connection to be mentored by professional dancers and the inside world of a professional ballet company through joining into major productions.

Registrations for VSYB are now open and auditions are Sunday 16th February 2024 for The Snow Queen.

Ages: male & female 9 years to 18 years. Girls 14 years up who are performing on pointe are to bring pointe shoes. Male technique required for boys 14 years up. Audition & rehearsal venue 29/10 Mirra Court, Bundoora.

All auditionees must have a good basic technique in classical ballet.

The Snow Queen will be performed at the Karralyka Theatre, Ringwood.

Performance dates are:

Friday 16th May at 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Saturday17th May at 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Sunday 18th May at 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Cast call for the shows is 05:30pm for the two evening shows and 12:00 noon for the Sunday matinee show.

Dress rehearsal is Thursday 15th May from 03:00pm to 8:30pm at Karralyka Theatre.

Rehearsal period:

Rehearsals take place on Sundays leading up to performance week.

Commencing Sunday 10th March through to Sunday 11th May 2025.

Sunday times:

Training - 1:30pm - 2:30pm (divided into groups according to level of ability appropriate to the production)

Rehearsals - 2:30pm - 5:30pm (6pm for soloists & principals when required). Rehearsal schedule is emailed weekly and rehearsals are divided into our 4 studios (upstairs and downstairs).

Audition information 2025:

Sunday 16th February 2025

Junior ages 9 to 11 years

Registration - 9:30am

10:00am - 11:00am - Studio 1

Good basic ballet technique required for boys & girls.

Roles include junior soloist plus corps de ballet positions.

Intermediate ages 12 to 14 years

Registration - 10:00am

11:00am - 12:00pm - Studio 1

Good basic ballet technique required for boys & girls. Pointe work possible but not compulsory.

Roles include intermediate soloist plus corps de ballet positions.
